January 50 Mile Challenge
For sixteen years, we’ve been part of the New Year’s Day 5k in downtown Troy, Ohio in some capacity, with Free To Run Foundation co-founders Brett & Cynde taking over the race in 2011 and the race moving under this organization the following year. January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, so we remain committed to kicking off each year with our World Race for Hope 5k, even though it looks different now as a free, informal race. This year, a new component was added to the race - a January 50 Mile Challenge, with participants committing to running, walking, or hiking at least 50 miles during the month. There are an estimated 50 million enslaved people in the world today, according to the International Labour Organization, Walk Free and the International Organization for Migration. By participating in this challenge, you have the opportunity to help us raise awareness of human trafficking, by periodically posting about the challenge and why you’re doing it, by recruiting others to join you, and if you’d like, by creating a fundraiser and raising funds for our mission. Fundraising is optional, but if you want to take that extra step, you can create a fundraiser when you register for the challenge, or you can create a fundraiser for Free To Run Foundation on Facebook or Instagram.
Thank you for your support of Free To Run Foundation, and wanting to help end human trafficking!
