About Free To Run Foundation
Free To Run Foundation was founded in 2012 by friends and fellow running teammates Brett Bogan and Cynde Sroufe. At the time, they were co-directing a New Year’s Day 5k in Troy, and decided that the race could be used to raise awareness of one of most important human rights issues of our lifetime, human trafficking, also known as modern day slavery.
The New Year’s 5k, now called the World Race for Hope, continues to be held in Troy, along with a Virtual race during the month of January. Free To Run has also held movie screenings in the community, organized speaker series events and fashion shows to raise awareness, and more recently, created a youth group to focus on educating and empowering youth.
