Shine a Light on Slavery Day - February 25, 2021

On Thursday, February 25, 2021, many anti-trafficking organizations and abolitionists from around the world will join together for the End It Movement’s Shine a Light on Slavery Day. We invite all of our followers to participate in this day of raising awareness of human trafficking by taking a few easy steps. First, you can change your profile picture on your social media accounts to the red X that symbolizes the movement. See End It’s website for downloadable resources, or you can make your own or edit a photo using a photo editing tool like PicMonkey.

Second, draw the red X on your hand, or your arm, or your cheek, anywhere frankly, and post a picture on social media on the 25th of February. Let your creative juices flow if you desire and aim for an artistic presentation. If drawing or painting is more attractive to you, take that route instead of taking a photo. Whatever you choose, use that picture as an opportunity to tell your friends and family about the 40.3 million people in slavery in the world today, and that while slavery is illegal in every country, it happens everywhere and is a $150 billion industry, making it the 2nd largest criminal industry. Tag the Free To Run Foundation and/or Teens Stand Against Trafficking accounts in your post, and use the hash tag #enditmovement. Finally, use Shine a Light on Slavery Day as a catapult to become more involved in the anti-slavery movement. We hold awareness and educational events throughout the year, and our Teens Stand Against Trafficking program is seeking teen ambassadors from across the country to help spread awareness to their peers. Change starts with awareness, and everybody can play a part in raising awareness. We’re looking forward to seeing a lot of red X’s on the 25th! Until all are free!
