Introducing our new Free To Run Ambassador

We are excited to announce a new program for 2015, the Free To Run Ambassador program. FTR Ambassadors will help promote our initiatives and raise awareness about social justice issues. Ambassadors will usually be runners or other athletes, but we will also look for opportunities to engage with celebrities, musicians, and artists.JuliWR4H

Our first FTR Ambassador is somebody well known in Troy, Ohio, where Free To Run is headquartered. She is a graduate of Miami East High School located just outside of Troy, and a 2014 graduate of Ohio University, where she earned Academic All America honors, and is one of the most accomplished track and field athletes of all time at Ohio U. She is currently living in Eugene, Oregon where she is training with Team Run Eugene. She has her sights set on qualifying for the 2016 Olympics. You can read more about Juli on her Bio page.

Welcome to the Free To Run family, Juli!

Virtual Race to End Slavery – January 2015

On January 1st, 2015, we held our 8th annual World Race for Hope 5k in Troy, Ohio. It was another astounding success, as we engaged 200 participants, dozens of volunteers and more members of the community who came to the pancake breakfast afterwards.

Like always, we have a virtual race option for our New Year’s Day race for those who want to support the cause, but are unable to attend the event in person. In 2014, we extended the virtual race to take place throughout the month of January, which is National Slavery Prevention and Human Trafficking Awareness Month in the United States (read the Presidential Proclamation). We are continuing this effort in 2015.

By registering as a virtual participant, you can support the cause of ending slavering, and the race provides a vehicle for you to raise awareness with others. You will receive a race shirt if you choose the Virtual Race option to include a shirt.

Virtual Race Registration

Proceeds from our virtual race support one of our International charity partners, Daughters Rising.
